Author Interview

What was your motivation behind The Lost Princesses series? Why did you want to write it?

As with the rest of my young adult novels, one of my motives is to provide clean romance alternatives to what is available in the mainstream market. Having five teens of my own, I know just how hard it is to keep up with everything they’re reading.

Obviously we can't shelter our teens from everything. But parents and teens alike need to be aware of the impact that mainstream YA literature can have. On the one hand, we should be having candid conversations about what teens are reading discussing how the authors' world views impact us.

On the other hand, why not offer alternative clean reads that don't require so much vigilance? Clean reads that encourage wholesome views on love and dating? Clean reads that prepare and instruct young people on what it means to have healthy, long-lasting relationships?

It’s my hope that all of the books in the Lost Princesses series do just that!

What do you hope readers take with them after they’ve read it?

In addition to enjoying a sweet love stories set in the midst of exciting adventures, I hope that readers will take away a few nuggets of truth that they can apply to their own lives. Evermore specifically talks about the importance of gaining wisdom, and it’s my hope that readers will be inspired to seek more of God’s wisdom in their lives.

Do you have a favorite scene that you can share with us?

(One of my many favorite scenes is when the hero and heroine meet for the first time. In Evermore, they’ve been childhood friends and are now meeting after five years apart. This scene is from Christopher’s perspective.)

I released my horse’s reins and crouched. Pushing aside a thin layer of windfall, I once more caught a glimpse of the tracks. In that instant, I realized I’d lowered my guard. My mare whinnied a soft warning. But before I could rise, a blade bit into the tender unprotected skin at my throat.

I froze. And I calculated as much information as I could. The arm encircling my chain mail hood was slender of build. The leather falcon glove was not overly large. And the boot that was just in my vision was small too.

I could easily overcome this foe. But what of the other man? Where was he?
The cracking of branches to the rear of my captor gave me my answer. The weight of his footsteps told me the man was much larger but was still several paces away. I had to act now if I had any attempt at getting away.

I clasped the hand holding the blade against my throat and jerked hard, intending to flip the man over my shoulder to land in front of me. Before I could complete the move, he swiftly pressed a second dagger into my back thigh below my chain mail hauberk. The cutting edge pierced through my hose, forcing me to stand motionless once again.

I held my breath, my mind scrambling for a new plan. My opponent might be small but was apparently well trained. With the dagger firmly in place again at my throat and at my thigh, I couldn’t move without drawing blood, and my captor knew it.

“Who are you and what is your business?” came a commanding but distinctly feminine voice.
Chagrin burned in my chest. Had a woman bested me?

“Why are you on Langley land?”

The demanding tone sounded vaguely familiar. “Adelaide?” I asked. “Is that you?”

The knife faltered, and I realized at once it was my cousin. I took advantage of the brief lag in her attentiveness, jabbed the weapon from her hand at my throat, and swung around in a swift kick, knocking her feet from the ground so that she landed on her back. I rapidly stepped on her wrist and dislodged the other dagger.

My behavior was inappropriate toward a girl—that I knew. But this was Adelaide. I’d always treated her and Mitchell the same. And since she’d been the one to initiate the attack, surely a little wrestling in return would do no harm.

Before I could say anything or shove the dagger out of her reach, she kicked her legs around and slammed them into the back of my knees directly into the reflexive weak spot so that I buckled. My hold on her wrist fell away. In that small second, she retrieved her dagger and thrust it at my throat before my knees could hit the forest floor.

This time she yanked off my chain mail hood, grabbed the short plait of my hair at the back of my neck, and used it to twist my head, giving me no choice but to look at her. I found myself peering up into a face shadowed by a deep hood. Even so, I immediately recognized her eyes, which were the color of moorland sky at eventide. The blue was prettier than I remembered.

“How are you, cousin?” I gave her what I hoped was my most charming grin.

If you could sum the series up in one sentence, what would you say?

Ancient keys to a secret treasure. And three princesses destined to work together to fight evil and restore peace to a kingdom in turmoil.

Share something about you that is unique - maybe about how/where you write... or favorite snack foods?

My favorite non-sweet snack is tortilla chips with cheese melted over the top of them. My favorite sweet snack depends on my mood. Of course I like chocolate! But I also occasionally like pie (particularly Apple, Blueberry, Cherry pie from Grand Traverse Pie Company which is just around the corner from my house!).

Launch - Note from the Author

Hi. :-) Thank you for joining me with the launch for the third and final book in the Greek Island Brides trilogy ~ WEARING THE GREEK MILLIONAIRE’S RING.

Starting over can be one of the hardest things in life. Routines are comfortable. A set goal is reassuring. But when it’s all ripped away. What do you do? . . .

“What am I supposed to do with this?”

Stasia held up a cruise ship ticket while sending her big brother a puzzled look. She didn’t have time for a vacation. Now that she was on her own, with no husband and no other family besides Xander, who now had a wife and baby, she needed to pull herself together and carve out a life for herself. That had to be her priority. As it was, she’d put it off for too long.

“Use the ticket and go on vacation.” Xander frowned at her as though he was concerned about her.

Hallie Reads - Review

"Wearing the Greek Millionaire’s Ring is a sweet story, featuring a trope I always love, so of course, I enjoyed this third addition to the Greek Island Brides series. Contemporary romance readers in need of a quick, fun story, check this one out."

She glanced down at her now bare finger.

She was on her own. Each step had taken time. Some steps were big and some were tiny. Each of them had pulled on her heartstrings.

“I… I worry about you.” Xander’s voice cut through her thoughts.

“I know you do.” And she knew it wasn’t easy for him to admit it. Xander had always held his feelings close to his chest. “And I appreciate it. But it’s okay. I’m okay.”

And then a movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. It was a tall man with dark hair. Though she could only see the back of him, there was something familiar about the way he held himself and the way he moved with sure, steady strides.

She told herself she shouldn’t stare even if it was from across the deck, but she couldn’t turn away. Or maybe she was using this distraction to keep from thinking about what her brother was saying. Did Xander really think she was incapable of caring for herself?

She knew then and there that she had to prove to him—to herself—that she could stand firmly on her own two feet. She’d thought she’d been doing that ever since Lukos passed, but it seemed that wasn’t so clear to everyone. She promised herself that by the time the cruise ended, she would have a firm life plan for herself.

Jypsylynn - Review

"Wearing The Greek Millionaire's Ring is a happy and sad story of fake love turning into something real. . . . This is a charming story with warm hearted characters, lovely descriptions and fun. I read it fairly quickly. This is a good light read that will make you smile. . ."

Wishful Endings - Excerpt

Yaya arched a penciled brow. “Don’t hide in some corner. Or worse, go to your cabin to work. This is a vacation. Look at all these lovely ladies. I’m sure you’ll find someone to spend your time with.”

While wearing a forced smile, he inwardly groaned. He was in so much trouble. They’d just pulled out of the dock and they were to be at sea for two weeks—two weeks of matchmaking torture.

“Yaya, I’m fine. I don’t need to find someone to spend time with.”

Roberto was on his way to an open table off to the side when he spotted her again. This time he was certain he knew her. It was Stasia Marinakos. No other woman carried herself quite like she did, with her slender shoulders pulled back, her head held high and a warm smile on her face. How she could smile after all that she’d been through was beyond him. But she hadn’t lost her zest for life. And he applauded her.

“Stasia?” he called out. When she paused and looked around, he called out to her again.

At last, their gazes met. Her big brown eyes widened. He waved her over to join him at the empty table. It took her a moment or two to work her way through the crowd of people all eager to enjoy the morning sun.

"Two years after her husband's death, Stasia Marinakos is trying to learn to enjoy life again. . . The novel was a quick and light-hearted beach read. . . . Overall, it was an enjoyable book for a quiet afternoon."

E-Romance News - Excerpt

Roberto glanced away. Under her gaze, he felt exposed and vulnerable. That was a first for him. He’d sat through a lot of tense meetings with some of the toughest businessmen. They’d all sized each other up for the other’s weakness, but none had made him feel like an open book.

He cleared his throat. “Actually, I’m here at my grandmother’s request.”

The twinkle of surprise showed in Stasia’s eyes. “Your grandmother is on the ship?”

He nodded. “So are a number of my family members.”

“That must be so nice.”

He remained quiet. He knew Stasia only had her brother these days. She didn’t know what it was like to have a bunch of well-meaning but intrusive family members delving into her personal life.

Onemused - Review

"WEARING THE GREEK MILLIONAIRE'S RING is a fake-relationship-turned-real story set on a Mediterranean cruise. . . . The characters were really fun in this, and the meddling family was an added bonus that adds some extra life into this romance. A quick read, this is a great beachy book with light-hearted fun and a sweet couple. Highly recommend for people who like fake relationship romances."

Harlie's Books - Excerpt & Review

He was about to take a drink when he noticed she didn’t have anything in front of her. “Can I get you anything to drink or eat?”

“Actually, yes. I’d love an espresso. I need the caffeine.”

It was only then that he noticed the shadows beneath her eyes. They were faint, as though they were covered up, and you wouldn’t even notice them unless you were looking for them. Something was keeping her up at night. And then he realized what it might be. She was still grieving for her husband. Sympathy welled up in him.

“I’ll be right back with caffeine.” He got to his feet and walked away.

"This friends to lovers book was spot on. Ms. Faye wrote a slow-paced, sweet romance about moving on and finding yourself separate from the death of a spouse. It is about loss and dealing with moving on but remembering, too. Roberto and Stasia romance is the perfect bookend for the series. I’m so happy that I rediscovered the Harlequin Romance line. Ms. Faye is one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to read what she writes next."

Had that just happened?

Stasia resisted the urge to touch her cheek where just moments ago Roberto’s lips had been. They’d known each other for years, but they’d never shared a hug, much less a kiss. Usually, it was a passing hello or a nod of recognition.

And it wasn’t like he was the first man to kiss her cheek. Why was she letting it get to her like this? When he’d kissed her, her heart had pounded, her mouth had gone dry and her palms had dampened. Sheesh! She really needed to get out more.

She assured herself that it was just the shock of Roberto acting like her significant other. It had caught her completely off guard. Everything would be fine now.

"I enjoyed this book a lot. I loved the setting of the book, where they are on a cruise. . . . I loved how instead of chapters there is Day one, Day two, etc. It was interesting to know which day of the cruise they were on."

“Hey, Stasia.”

She turned.

Roberto rushed to catch up with her. “Did you make plans for dinner?”

Her forehead scrunched up. “Is this something I should check on my app?”

He chuckled. “I meant to say, do you want to have dinner with me? But if you don’t want to or you have other plans, that’s fine—”

“No. I mean no, I don’t have other plans, and yes, I’d enjoy having dinner with you.”

"Jennifer Faye does it again in her third installment from her Greek Island Brides series. . . I give Wearing the Greek Millionaire’s Ring a well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend this book, as well as, the others of the Greek Island Brides series for readers who enjoy sweet, romantic and clean reads."

Readeropolis - Excerpt

“What just happened?” Stasia’s eyes reflected her confusion.

“That was my cousin. She’s kind of like a force of nature.”

“But she thinks you and I...that we’re a couple. Why didn’t you correct her?”

He smiled. “Because she wouldn’t care what I said. She likes to come to her own conclusions. She’s a lot like our grandmother. She’ll figure out the truth eventually.”

"Oh wow, what can I say about this amazing book! A truly stunning tale of such deep love and passion and so very sweet! I absolutely loved it! . . . This was such a well-written book, the characters are fully and well-developed and there are many twists and turns . . . If you love a sweet romance, then you are going to love this book!"

Jorie Loves A Story - Spotlight

"I loved it and I even snickered in some places of the book. It's truly delightful!! . . . Jennifer has done a fabulous job with writing this story. I love when an author can make me feel like I'm part of a book.

I strongly truth this book! You won't regret it!!"

"I love the way that the chapters were days and places where the cruise took them. I thought that was pretty cool and very unique. Loving the way that Stasia and Roberto got “together.” . . . Wearing the Greek Millionaire’s Ring by Jennifer Faye is a fantastic end to a wonderful trilogy. . . . I am giving Wearing the Greek Millionaire’s Ring by Jennifer Faye, a five-star rating and recommending it to all romance readers out there."

Book Tour Launch for
Sweet Melody
By Heidi McCahan

Note from the Author

Hello, readers! Thank you for joining us on Sweet Melody’s tour. I’m glad you’re here.

About ten years ago, some friends mentioned this wonderful new place for a vacation called Seabrook, so we decided to check it out. My sister and her family, our parents, my husband and our kids packed up our mini-vans and hit the road for the Washington coast. It was love at first sight for all of us and we’ve been back multiple times. As the community of Seabrook evolves, our love for this rugged spot clinging to the cliffs on the edge of the Pacific has grown as well.

This is the first time I’ve written a book about a real geographical location. As with any work of fiction, some details have been changed to suit the structure of the novel. I’ve tried to honor the spirit and the beauty of Seabrook, while also telling the story that was in my heart.

Sweet Melody is more than just a romance about a songwriter and a bakery owner. It’s also a story about failure, how we cope with unspeakable heartache, and what we do when our dreams don’t come true in the way we’d imagined or expected. Whatever you’re going through right now, I hope this novel inspires you, offers a temporary escape from your current reality, and reminds you of the hope that is found in walking with a God who loves you unconditionally.

Happy reading!

Launch - Interview with the Author

What motivated you to write this particular story?

Two reasons: First, I fell in love with the characters and the idea of sharing thoughts. I just couldn’t get the characters out of my head once they arrived. Second, I want to encourage teenagers. I have been working with teenagers since I graduated from college, and I just can’t explain how great they are to work with every day. They deserve all the love and encouragement we can give them, and I hope my books do that. I hope this book in particular tells teenagers that they matter, that their thoughts and opinions matter, and that (really important to me) they take the time to consider how they define themselves.

Heidi Reads... - Excerpt

As I stand, I try to ignore the spinning in my head. Pru eyes me gripping the side of my chair for support. Marcus is rising, his arms boasting grooves and bulges as he pushes himself up. He sees me staring, and for just a moment longer, I wait to look away.

All sixteen of us are standing now. Dr. Yamaguchi says in her hypnotic voice, “To whom much is given—”

As one, we say, “—much is expected.”

Remembrancy - Review

"Mind of Mine is an interesting YA science fiction read but also a cautionary tale. Life on the other side of the fence comes with its own difficulties."

Only when I am with Marcus does the opaque white door before me not freeze my insides. Only with him am I not afraid of what happens behind this door. Streaming with Marcus is the one thing that feels like it belongs to me, even more than my research, which could be deleted at the touch of a button. Marcus cannot be deleted from my mind, nor I from his. And that makes me feel like, at least to him, I exist as an individual.

That is why we do this, after all. To remind us—most often just me—who we really are. Especially after a punishing day of deluge in the box—a day spent hooked up to fifteen other minds crashing simultaneously into my own—I need a grounder. I need this.

Colorimetry - Excerpt

Someone shuts the chamber doors and the lights above us dim. A man in a charcoal suit emerges from beneath us into a shaft of light on the stage. The Director. Daddy, as I like to call him. My teeth grind against each other.

“Thank you, Order members, for coming to this impromptu meeting.”

Like we had a choice.

"Wow! This one definitely sucked me in. I love it when speculative fiction explores a premise that seems to promise so many benefits—for example, overcoming our perceived shortcomings and limitations—but ends up demonstrating that the sacrifices made in the process actually de-humanize us rather than elevating us to a higher way of living. . . . this story really did have me hooked from cover to cover. I look forward to seeing more from this author!"

Wishful Endings - Excerpt

The rooftop. Oh, the air! The stars, hidden behind the city’s haze, pale in comparison to the blinking lights of Atlanta—each light a testament to human ingenuity and the desire to push harder, further, against the night. Marcus sits on the concrete, back facing me. He looks over at the sound of the door announcing my arrival. His smile flips into a frown in less than a second.

A week and a half have passed since they cut off our paired streaming. In almost eight months, a week hasn’t gone by without an exhilarating dose of Marcus’ emotions and the grounding feeling that I mean something to him. Until now.

Jypsylynn - Review

"The question at the heart of the story is a complex one with no right answer. The story is compelling, sharp and thought provoking. Although it is speculation, the premise is plausible. I liked V because of her daring. She questions the system that she has always accepted. I enjoyed the story because it really gives you something to think about after the last page. The ideas will stay with you. I've become a fan lately of speculative fiction, and Mind of Mine is a great example of excellent story telling in this genre. Definitely try it out!"

I'm Into Books - Excerpt

“Let him alone.” Pru’s stony voice edges in from the doorway. Her arms are crossed and her mouth flat.

Flavius whips an angry glare at her. “He’s been boxed. Can’t remember who he is. It’ll come. Just give him a minute.”

“Leave him,” Pru demands. “Each time one of us gets the box, it affects us all. Let him suffer. Maybe then he won’t do whatever it was again.” She spears me with her gaze then spins on her heel and disappears.

Jessica Belmont - Review

But V is losing her identity and unable to predict which face will peer back at her from the nearest mirror. Escaping this life will mean freedom to think for herself—and abandoning everything and everyone she’s known and loved.

About the Author

If you're a teen, I work for you.

I write for you. I teach for you.

Seven days a week I seek to shine light into the world-darkened lives of young people, whether it be in a high school Spanish class, a youth group Sunday school class, or a coffee shop with my computer writing my next book.

I want my writing to be a bright spot on a dark shelf, a source of truth among many lies. You guys deserve books like this.

I live in north Alabama with my son, two droopy hound dogs, a cat named Sprinkles, and my superhero husband. No, really, he saved my life once. It’s a cool story.

If you want to know more about me, my writing, or my escapades as a teacher, please visit my blog.
