Author Interview
What inspired you to write Discovery of the Five Senses?
A desire to see more young people reading. I am hoping to contribute to their literacy development, and their imaginations.
What do you love the most about this story?
The bonds of brotherhood, the sub-theme of love and loyalty, and how we must all push ahead in the face of adversity.
What challenged you about writing it?
Keeping all the characters straight! The novel features a large cast, so I used a chart to keep track of everyone's name, age, and special powers.
Which character do you most relate to and why?
Sandy Smith. I'm that kind of mom… LOL!
What do you hope readers will take with them after they've read it?
A sense of imagination and wonder. Memories of the preserve and all the scenery. And a greater appreciation for the fate in their own lives.
What do you enjoy doing when you're not writing?
Gardening, cooking, and making treats for family and friends. And a lot of self-care.
